[IM]PULSE II (2015)

LEDs, copper wires, fishing nets, electronic components, measured heartbeat.  Installation at CONFLUX, The Electrician's Shop, Trinity Buoy Wharf (July 2015).

[Im]Pulse II is an expanded electrical circuit of LEDs and copper nets that visualises the net-maker's heartbeat in the fluctuation of light from the LEDs. It is a representative mapping of the making process; a systematic digital visualisation of the analogue experience of net-making. The visualisation of the heartbeat behaves as an unpredictable and organic loop achieved through the combination of two disparate programmes: a phasing programme and a heartbeat count measured from the process of making the fishing nets.

The copper nets are incorporated into the circuit and become part of the electrical connection through which the lights are powered, accumulating the work in one singular 'body'.
